Re: Trailer pricing

My Yukon Denali XL has a 6.0 liter in it along with an oil and transmission cooler and auto-leveling suspension. I can pull my 6 x 12 (6'6" interior height) trailer all day long and forget it's even there. If I keep the speeds under 80 mph, I average around 10 mpg.

Yeah, forgot to mention that my two F-150's mentioned above both had 3.55 gears. My new one has 3.73's.

The pointed nose trailers (originally designed for snowmobiles) have more of a tendancy to wander and sway in cross and head winds than the flat or rounded nose trailers. After owning both styles, I found there is absolutely no advantage to the pointed types and gas mileage for both types were within .5 mpg (the rounded front was actually better). For the same overall length, you also lose a good deal of floor space with the V nose type as well.
Strange, my experience is exactly the opposite.

I owned a 8.5x16 Pace Cargosport and I now own a 8.5x20 AeroSport.

The Cargosport would sway and weave (empty or loaded) any time the trailer enocuntered any kind of cross wind. I also would only get about 6-8 mpg with my 99 Tahoe (350 with 3.42 rear-end, no Tow/Haul mode).

BTW, unless you are hauling 10,000 lbs or more, 4.10 gears are overkill. 3.73 rear-ends work just as well with improved gas mileage and drivability.

The Aero Sport has proven rock-steady smooth, loaded or unloaded and I get almost 10 mpg with it.

The other thing is that even though my V-Nose is a 20' trailer, it is actually 3" shorter end to end than my 16 foot trailer which refutes the statement Frank made that you lose floor square footage with a V-Nose.

Re: Trailer pricing

Yeah, some manufacturers measure from the tip of the nose, and other's measure from where the angled wall meets a straight wall. Just make sure you know what you're getting before you buy it...
