Re: Motorcycle Hitch Carrier

They make one that will hold two dirt bikes. I was thinking about it. My XX would be too heavy for it anyway...

Re: Motorcycle Hitch Carrier

It looks like a great idea. But I'm not sure about having all that weight sticking out like that, with just a few tie downs holding it.

Better off (more secure) getting a small trailer.

The only thing to consider is that you cant (or arent supposed to) go freeway speeds with a trailer...

Re: Motorcycle Hitch Carrier

Which member here was it that built his own hitch carrier, mounted to the back of his Tahoe? That thing was built like a brick shithouse.

Don't pay attention to those U-Haul stickers.

Re: Motorcycle Hitch Carrier

Versa-Haul makes a Sport model that has a 600lbs capacity.

I am thinking about it. It runs about $460 with everything (motorcycleramps.com).

Re: Motorcycle Hitch Carrier

I have a 98 Ford Explorer and the versa haul to carry my CR500. Works great except the Explorer's ground clearance isn't quite high enough to clear some short/steep drops or rises and the extension tube will drag. If your vehicle has good ground clearance for the hitch height, I highly recommend the unit. No registration, plates, etc..... I can include some pics with the bike loaded if there is interest.
