Trailer Dolly

So, in order to position my trailer in my driveway so that I can still access it to use it to store stuff, and also not have it block the driveway, I needed to be able to position it so that the hitch was positioned away from the driveway. No way to put it there with a tow vehicle. I tried moving it by hand which was not hard with my 6x10 but the way the 6x12 v-nose is weighted, it is too heavy for me to do by hand. So I picked up a tow dolly from Amazon.com. It was about 30-40 bucks I think and about 25 to ship. I put it together yesterday. Looks like it will do the job well. I've never seen one before, but a neat little item. I'll let you know how well it works or doesn't work.

They can be handy. My sister in law has one of these to move her trailers around. It works pretty slick.

Re: Trailer Dolly

Cool. Nice price too. The one I have that I ordered a week or so ago, looks like it isn't carried anymore. Weird. There is another one similar with the 600 lb capacity that is a bit more expensive...

Re: Trailer Dolly

I made a bracket with a ball that I attached to my lawn tractor.... awesome. When I got rid of the trailer, I brought it to the summer home to move the boat and jet-skis trailer. Hook up and drag around..... goes any where. If you are handy and like to do a little welding it works great.

Re: Trailer Dolly

I got mine from Harbor Freight. I can drag the loaded 6X10 up the driveway and back it into place. Someone makes a motorized version for the really weak or lazy.

It never ocurred to me to take pictures of mine to show off to everybody though. Would look much better with flames.

Well, I don't have the summer home, the boat or the jet-skis. I can't weld worth a sheet..... So, that leaves me with the lawn tractor (in my case, garden tractor). Hmmmm....is it worth it for just the bike trailer???? I'm almost half-way there to do this thingy to move the mini-blink around.

Don't know...I need a scotch, it's too much to think about.

The Miller site has a step by step plan for a trailer dolly and someone submitted their powered trailer dolly in the idea gallery:

Actually, I just couldn't figure out where to put it.

Christmahanakwanzikahvus just doesn't have the same ring. It just doesn't flow.

Re: Trailer Dolly

I've got one. Bought it from a local trailer shop. Sure comes in handy when you're jockeying the trailer after a loooong day at the track...

Re: Trailer Dolly

I've considered getting one of those. What's stopped me is the vision of my 7x14 trailer getting away from me on my slightly inclined driveway and ending up down in the weeds.
