New Hitch on the Scooby

So I am going to put a hitch on my 95 subaru wagon becuase it has enough towing capacity for me and my bikes (2000lb). This is my first time ever buying a hitch so I'm wondering if there are any good tips out there as far as

Which brand(s) are good/bad
Where to find a good deal
What to look for in a trailer



Interesting side note: This past year in Michigan they just changed the law for trailer plates. Now, you buy one plate for the trailer for its entire life.

Are you installing it or having it done?

I'm looking at bolt-on ones like Reese, Draw-tie, so I am planning on putting it on myself.

I ordered a hitch for my Mountaineer this week. Ordered it online about noon on Wednesday from etrailer.com and had it in hand on Thursday! Got a nice Hidden Hitch for around $135, and it was only about $15 for shipping. Got it bolted on in about 30 minutes. Was a great experience!

For about $200 you can go to Ziebart and have them install it. The extra $50-$60 is nothing for a little extra piece of mind.

Peace of mind is exactaly why I'm doing it myself.
