Re: Questions on trailers.

Ok we've done our shopping here is about the most reasonable deal I have found.

o It's a Haulmark Transport DLX TS6X10DS2
o It's a 6 X 10 with the extra high celling so 6" extra head height, 74'' interior height.
o It's has a side door and a folding ramp door.
o It's has side vents and a top vent.
o LED rear lights
o Internal lights
o Internal spare tire with mount (Back left side up high on wall)
o It has EZ Lube Axles. ie grease fittings.
o Only has a 5/8 flooring but I plan to do some sort of flooring.
o Diamond plate front and fenders.
o Built in Jacks under the rear end.
o Price $2592.00 I'm military so no sales tax for me in this state. I think total price for me will be about $2700 otd.

Here is a question for you all that get snow. If I want a V-Nose on it I have to get a flat roof. I currently live in Salt Lake City, the guy suggested I go with a dome type but I can't get a V-Nose in this model. The V-Nose option will cost me 50 dollars extra.

What do you all think?

Also thanks for all of your input before it made it alot easier to shopping for a trailer with some know how.

Thanks
Nate

Re: Questions on trailers.

Nate, did the sales guy also tell you that all v-nose drive on/drive off snowmobile trailers have flat roofs?
It's sixes either way, but if you want a v-nose, don't worry about the roof. If you want a domed roof, why worry about the v-nose?
I used to know a guy at a local trailer shop, but he's not there any longer, so I can't really help you other than opinion and experience with flat top trailers not having a problem with snow.
Oh yeah, there is a Haulmark assembly location south in Springville if you want to go see how they're made and assure yourself that the flat tops are fine.

Re: Questions on trailers.

Careful I think Haulmark measures from the nose to the tail for length. So a V-Nose actually has less space. My trailer measures box so a V is longer inside but some brands don't, bring your tape

Nate, sorry I missed your question from before. IIRC, I paid about $2800 for mine. Continental Cargo makes a higher end trailer than some of the other manufacturers. I've seen 6x12's going for under $2000. Mine has been worth every penny.

My buddy works at Haulmark and told me the new v-nose option on the cargo trailer adds an extra 1.5 ft to the length of the trailer. So, the new v-nose option with the standard transport cargo trailer will give you a little more room.

My new trailer, should be finished being built within a couple of weeks. I'll take some photos and measurements went it gets to the house!

Re: Questions on trailers.

I will be getting my trailer in the next couple of weeks and would like to know what type of tile you all are using. I've been looking around and most I have seen is the Armstrong Vinyl self adhesive type. It looks a bit thin and was just wonder if this is going to hold up?

Thanks

That's what I used in my 6 x 12. It's relatively cheap and easy to install, but it doesn't wear as well as the real stuff (see Conq's old trailer pics). The upside is that it's easy to replace a square if it gets damaged, and it doesn't add as much weight to your trailer.

You might want to look into the commercial stuff. It isn't too difficult to put down the glue, and it is a lot tougher than the stick-on stuff, with the color going all the way through. Might have to order it to get the black/white checkerboard, as most places only stock it in the neutral colors. I don't have experience in a trailer, but have the same concerns with wear .... when I finally get an enclosed trailer.

Thanks to both of you. Also Red did you put any type of sealer down before laying your tiles...or maybe even paint?

Just to throw out another flooring option...the floor of ours is covered with the spray-on truck bed liner. It works great, and isn't as slippery as tile.

Re: Questions on trailers.

HondaGalToo,

I've already talked to a guy about putting TurboLiner on the ramp part. He told it was going to cost about 75 dollars for it. He said for another 100 dollars he could do the rest of the trailer no problem. The only reason I haven't decided to go this way was I thought maybe it would make the inside of the trailer to dark. He has a light gray color he can do, HGT do you possible have any pictures of your floor?

Thanks

No, I didn't put a sealer down first, but in hindsight it wouldn't have hurt.

No pics, sorry. But my floor is black and it's not too bad. I would be better if I painted the walls white, but so far I've not had time!
