Re: Rachet or Pull straps in trailer

A Sport Chock with two non Ancra pull-type just barely snug off the rear of the bike. No fork compression at all, no worries. Hell, the two rear tie-downs aren't really necessary.
Of course an R1 will just stand there all by itself with no need for any tie down or chocks.

Re: Rachet or Pull straps in trailer

Use ratchets on the front and pulls on the back. Pulls are there just to keep it from bouncing.

Not true. There may be other high-quality brands out there, but I bought a set (can't remember the name) to have a spare. Used them once and they slipped.

Always pull forward. Soft straps around the lower triple clamps work well. By pulling forward you keep the wheel in the chock. I have seen people have the front straps pull forward and the back ones pull rearward thinking the tension will keep the bike in place. If that were the case, you wouldnt need a chock! Going over a speedbump or large ruts, I watched the bike jump out of a 2in channel!
