1000RR tiedown issue

I just brought my bike home last Wednesday, and I tied the front down using a canyon dancer bar harness, but I had to drape it over the top of the damper. Has anyone else hauled a CBR1KRR on a trailer/truck had any problems doing that, or should I maybe just use soft ties on each bar from now on?

I had to do the same kinda thing with my 929RR and the Scotts damper. I was able to get it where it didn't put any stress on the damper though. Dunno if that's possible with the 1000RR.

Soon after, I switched to the lower-triple-clamp method of tie-down. You just have to get the angle of the tie-down points right so that you don't put any stress on the inner fairing. Depending on the truck/trailer layout, that isn't possible in all cases.

I'm kinda limited with my trailer as it's an open 5x8. I tied down the RC45 using the lower triple clamps and it ended up scratching the fender a bit, but that was when I was hauling two bikes. The bar harness was still too close to the bodywork when I put another bike next to it. I hauled the RC30 and a friend's 929 on it to a couple track days, and we used a bar harness on both bikes with no problems, I'm just worried about the damper on the CBR.

Some people swear by canyon dancers but I have seen them squash too many grips to get one for myself so I always use the soft strap on the lower triple method like Conq.

I used a canyon dancer on my 1000rr when I went to my last track day, about a 160 mi round trip with no problems. Altough I would like to look for alternatives to putting the strap across the top of the damper

Brian, why not mount some sturdy eye-bolts to the floor of your trailer at the proper location to tie it down as illustrated by Conq? Seems a pretty simple task.
