Utility Trailor towing ?

I'm looking to get a 5x8 or a 5x10 open utility trailor. I wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions on how to mount some tie down hooks into the wire mesh floor. I'm towing two bikes. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Utility Trailor towing ?

I had a 7 x 5 trailer made up of chequer plate (very sturdy) and when i got the guy to build it I got him to manufacture a rack that bolts into the front of the trailer with two wheel channels, just to hold the front wheels in position.
on this rack he has welded some tie down points and I put an eyelet on each side of the trailer to also tie the bikes to.

it fits 2 bikes very nicely accross and length wise.

When not using it as a bike trailer I pull the rack out and I have a good box trailer.

If your trailer has the steel "L" bar frame rails you can hook right onto those. There are usually a bunch of closed off points that will prevent the hooks from moving.

When I had my mesh trailer, I drilled through the crossmembers and side rails to install heavy duty "eye" hooks.

Do you think the pressure treated wood floor would be better then the mesh flooring? They are the same price. I'm thinking the wood would be hella heavy but easier to drill some mounts in, whatcha think
