Bank angle sensor

In a recent crash on my 954, I cracked a little doghouse shaped piece mounted to the fairing stay called the bank angle sensor. When I unplug it, the fuel pump shuts off, but the pump works fine with the sensor plugged in and dangling from the wiring harness. (regardless of orientation). My question is, what is this thing? And what does it have to do with the fuel pump?

Thanks for the help. Tom

Re: Bank angle sensor

If I'm not mistaken it is designed for safety where in if the bike is laid down or in a roll over, the fuel pump is shut down so as not to potentially cause a fire.

Re: Bank angle sensor

Yes the BAS is a safety for keeping the bike from running while it is down, but most racers bypass it as well considering we lean the bikes over so far that we have had BASs cut our fuel in the middle of an apex.....

It doesn't look at that angle, just left and right.
