Servicing A CBR 1000RR Fireblade
Ok, a friend of mine did his own service last night on his 2005 1000RR and he rang me half way through it in tears.... its a feckin nightmare to get the plugs out, went to his house to give him a hand and eventually got them out... Now.. I usually do my own servicing, but.. feck.. I'm having second thoughts now..
Any advice!!! |

the first time is the worst! i have found after a couple of times its alot easier......plus I'm an x-mechanic with a large assortment of tools so that helps too..but the more you tear it down the easier it usualy comes.

The one thing I made peace with is to phone and call a friend.
Nothing beats the two heads team. Not even obscure instructions and fade out scematics. We are so close now that we work on each others projects. But then again, this is how the frienship was launched, right into troubled waters. |

Re: Servicing A CBR 1000RR Fireblade
You wouldn't believe the room and ease of service you get after removing every non-essential component off the bike. I knocked off at least 10 pounds off my bike.
Without 4 pounds worth of heavy plastic flapper assembly, I can just reach right up there with a wrench and check the plugs. Yes, that cruft weighs that much. Lots of room and nothing to remove. Couldn't be easier. There's also a bunch of plastic sheets covering the engine surface that I guess that are supposed to insulate heat and noise. Out they went too. I can reach just about everything with my fairings on. |
