To loosen the front sprocket bolt, I had to have someone apply the rear brake. Alternatively, something, like a wooden broom handle, needs to be stuck through the rear wheel. Otherwise, it all keeps turning, making it impossible to loosen the bolt. Could this be the problem? Not trying to state the obvious, it's probably something you already know, but just in case....

HGT - thanks for breaking that out, I don't think anyone here has actually mentioned the overall easiest way of doing that until now, the argh argh argh factor of tools kept is easily distracted
