Though I just paid 44$ (shipped) for a NIB Ryobi 18v 1/2" w/flashlight/charger/batt, not complaining.

Re: Ryobi Cordless
I picked up the Dewalt 18v hammer-drill this year for perforating my patio to make drainage. Free battery, nice piece of hardware... very comfortable to hold. I talked a while with the guy at teh store about Ryobi and Rigid (he rated all other brands about the same) which I THINK are both Home Depot brands. The Ryobi tools looked less expensive, but as individuals adding in batteries and chargers really nullified the sense to it, bringing you to the price of the higher end units rather quickly. I tried one of their laser levels and promptly returned it... it seemed to be more oriented to someone with a one-time home use "isn't that neat" type of mentality rather than someone expecting a long-lasting problem-free durable piece of hardware.

Re: Ryobi Cordless
So does anyone want to buy a bunch of used cordless power tools or should I ebay them all?

Re: Ryobi Cordless
I have one, but its a DeWalt, and has no batteries
![]() If you're looking for a Ryobi peep on ebay...tons of 'bare' tools on there cheaply.. edit: only selling my old stuff, thats the only way I'll get to see if I like the Ryobi ..then be able to justify the procurement of a new 36v setup in the spring

Unfortunately the cordless workshop is no longer available from Ryobi, glad I got it when I did

Re: Ryobi Cordless

Re: Ryobi Cordless
Works well too, I did some doorframes over the winter and it came in really handy for cutting the trim. It will do pine and PT 2x4's, haven't really done anything bigger on it yet, just haven't had any projects requiring it. Did I mention I love the radio though? I had to play plumber this evening unexpectedly and it helped me keep my sanity quite nicely. Of course my ipod was stuck to the back too

Re: Ryobi Cordless
I have found that the batteries on these don't last as long as the dewalt tools. My favorite tool though is my 3.6v panasonic screwdriver. a bit pricey (175.00) but saves me a ton of time. It revs to 600 rpm and lasts me a week srewing about 80 to 90 times a day.

Panasonic makes good stuff, I get a healthy discount on it at work for some reason too, tv's, tools, etc...I will have to check into their screwdrivers too. I used to like the AEG's back when...

Re: Ryobi Cordless
dewd i still have an aeg. great jap screw drivers. my backup is an aeg. the bloody thing is 7 years old and still works like new! the panasonic is a bit heavey but once you use the 600 rpm over the 400 you will be amazed at the difference. it also charges in 15 minutes.
my prefered voltage for drills has been the 14.4 the 18 volt drills are a bit to heavy and bulky for most of my uses. as far as plug in tools makita is my prefered choice. |

Re: Ryobi Cordless
Hmm, so I can get a Pana #EY6225CQ for about 120$ , is that the unit you speak of? 15min charging...3.6v...etc. ?
What do you do that involves that much 'driving? The AEG's were nuts...no questions I used to be an advocate of Makita 12vdc even when I used em every day, the DW 18 was nice, but try getting it somewhere tight and maneuvering it...f that.

Re: Ryobi Cordless
medical equipment. i repair ultrasound systems and paqs systems (imaging archive servers)
i don't like the 18 volt units like i said the 14.4 volt units provide a nice compromise though. Can't find much AEG stuff anymore. i gotta check if they are still in buisness. |
