I guess that pipe stand idea is pretty inventive, but sheese, he saved a whopping hundred bucks. I'd pay that extra amount to get a Pit Bull if for no other reason than to avoid the giant pipe contaption cluttering up my garage.

black pipe just threads together in seconds though, it would take up less room then a stand when taken apart !

Re: Interesting idea for a front stand

I used my Canyon Dancer and the garage door opener mounting brackets to hoist mine to mount my tires. That's a good idea too.

Re: Interesting idea for a front stand

I've been using one of those for months now. Cost was about $35, but I got a little fancy with the pieces to allow for future expansion. Unlike regular stands, though, it allows for fork/swingarm removal, and can be used in tandem to completely suspend the bike. It also folds up nicely - just rotate the feet until the entire thing is in one plane.

It's possibly one of the best bike tools for the money.

I actually like this idea. Where does one tie it to though? Frame or handlebars? Been meaning to ask b/c I wanna tackle changing my own fork oil this summer.

Passing a soft tie or two underneath the top triple clamp has worked for me. The clamp stays put while allowing the fork tubes to slide out from below.

That is a good idea. I like it. It's clever. I just use an A-frame ladder with a ratchet strap under the steering head. Yours gives you more working room and is sturdier.
