Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
MWAHAHAA!
so then you can go to the bike...with a Van load of friends, with automatic wepons, and get the bike back! I think I might just call the cops, and then let them handle that part of it myself. But, I know people will be doing the van idea...it only a matter of time. Also CBR629...your avatar keeps making me lick my monitor...man, I have to stop that! Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
What's the system, and where'd he get it from? Can you get more info on it?

Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
Nice! I'd love to see the look on the crooks face when you roll up...
![]() Does he have to pay a rental/tracking fee? Similar systems I've seen up here are tracked by a 3rd party company whom you must pay for the monitoring. |

Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
I have been thinking about that too. Those things are being used by parents for teenagers(tracks MPH), husbands/wives (for cheating purposes), companies that want to keep track of employee driving etc.

Aw, gee, 'poke, why would you even suspect that? Don't you realize that companies in the business of making money have only the highest possible moral values, and your best interest, at heart. You should be ashamed of yourself for holding such views.

Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
I looked in to these years ago but the service plans make it expensive for tracking kids/girlfriend/wife/etc. general use. Cool but for the price of service plans, you wouldn't want to use it except when the vehicle got stolen.
PLUS, if someone steals it with an exclosed trailer or van, the GPS is useless. After they get it to their place, they can easily and quickly remove the system. GPS does require a pretty good line of site to function & it requires battery power - another way to disable it. |

Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
The BikeBANDIT doesn't require any service fee other than than the GSM sim card and associated mobile phone costs. It will also give you details on location based upon GSM info which in many cases is just as good as GPS.

Re: BETTER THAN AN ALARM or LOJACK
Back when my bike was stolen, I looked into several means of tracking. I even went as far as getting a HAM license so that I could legally use APRS. Ultimately, though, I realized that which others have mentioned - any conventional/available transponder system is easily defeated. Yes, there are dumb crooks, but most of them are doing time, which leaves the smarter ones out there, casing our rides.
