IMPO it is where you use common sense
 if you are with a bunch of other riders then most likely you can leave your helmet, but most places you should either take it with you or lock it up. I mean weather you spent $65.00 or $600.00 if its taken then you have to replace it (do not see myself spending $600.00 for a helmet).

don't just think of the initial cost but what happens when your away from any store that sells helmets.. where I live there are helmet laws.. good luck getting someone to bring you a new one or finding a store to sell you one.. murphy says motorcycle stores shall be closed that day in your area
