PUMA BOOTS

This is a discussion on PUMA BOOTS within the Riding Gear / Luggage forums, part of the General Utility Vehicle Discussion category; I was planning on getting some Sidi Vertigo air boots but I hear these new PUMA race boots are good. Has anyone used them?...

Re: PUMA BOOTS

I think you're talking about the Puma 1000 boots. They have a system designed around what they call the "medically defined angles of injury" to keep your foot from bending too far forward or backwards. We have a set of them in white in our store here in Sacramento, CA. They seem pretty good, and I do like how they aren't too thick above the toe area either, so you can still slide your foot above or below the shifter fairly easily. I'm not sure how well they perform. That being said, I decided to order some Vertigo Corsa boots myself just a couple weeks back. I can't say that they are better or worse than the Puma 1000 boots, but I guess I just have more faith in a boot that's been tried and tested for some time now than a boot that's kinda brand new to the market. That's pretty much the ONLY reason I chose the Sidi boots over the Puma boots.

Re: PUMA BOOTS

I think those are the ones. I was talking with some friends that run the local shop and they were showing me how the ankle area is so stiff and has a lot of support. Just LOVE the Sidis though

Re: PUMA BOOTS

its a wicked looking boot, but i would question as to how comfortable it would be to wear them all day on a long trip, and go to the store with them.

Im all about safety and comfort, and those boots look like they are only for safety. Just my opinion.

I love my Sidi Vertas

Re: PUMA BOOTS

Well if I am wearing them I am out for a day of spirited riding and most likely wont be walking much in them. For commuting or if I a just riding the bike to the store or something I usually just wear flip flops and shorts. J/K but I usually would just wear normal boots.

Yeah, for commuting around town, that sort of thing, I've got a set of Sidi Doha boots that I like. More than comfortable enough for walking around stores, that sort of thing. They replaced my oh-so chunky Icon Superduty 2 boots.

Speaking of boots, I've also got BRAND NEW sets of Thor 50/50 boots in black, and Alpinestar SMX-1 street boots. I'm not planning on using them, but haven't gotten around to posting them for sale yet. If anyone fits in a size 12 or 13, let me know.

Re: PUMA BOOTS

my previous post said that i like comfort for trips to the store and what not, but what i look for in a boot is safety first then comfort, but both must be very good.

don't any of you guys go on long bike trips, say for a week?? Carving canyons and loving the twistys?? i want a race boot, to protect my feet, but where are you going to put another set of boots for walking after a day of riding?? im sorry but i just don't want to pack that, when space is limited!!

thats why i want both!!

Re: PUMA BOOTS

I have not worn the Puma's but they look the business.
I do have the Sidi vert race and they are great with the exception of them squeaking when you walk and their customer service poor. I had warranty issues with mine and it took them a long time to resolve the issues.

Re: PUMA BOOTS

My other half has the Puma's, says they're good and comfortable but were a bit awkward to get on when she first had them, your leathers go over the inner sock and under the outer boot!

The ankle pivot is a disc of titanium which has really marked the heel plates on her bike.

I have Alpinestar SMX and my next boots are likely to be Vertigo Corsa's, not Puma.......

Re: PUMA BOOTS

Thanks guys. I think I will go with the Sidis. If they are as good I would take them over the PUMAs since I like the looks better and they fit me well. I may look at the SMX again though. I checked them out before and liked them.

Re: PUMA BOOTS

I had a pair of A* SMX boots I just replaced with the Sidi Vertas. I wanted something that was tried and tested also. I have no complaints with the A*'s either. Great boot. I still have them.
