Never tried an X-11, but previous Shoei's that I've tried never fit quite right. The Suomy's are nice but the spec 1r's don't let you shut off the venting. They fit great and have excellent ventilation. However, in the cooler months, you'll wish you could shut the vents off and won't be able to! Of course you could always get a carbon fiber bandana!! Anyway that's my quick helmet review for ya HGT, FWIW. |

Thanks, Scratch! Nope, I've got a tiny peanut head, but Arais fit it well. I wear an XS, but I need to add thicker cheek pads and crown pads. The XXS is just a bit too small, but the XS is a bit too big. Fitting the thicker pads does the trick. The Shoei X-11 fits differently than other Shoeis, it seems to fit "Arai heads" better.

Oh crap, sorry guys. Didn't mean to leave everyone hanging for so long.
Everything turned out A-OK. Looks like I was paranoid over nothing. The helmet was genuine as verified by Arai. I sent the helmet to them for inspection and they said it was fine. The spoiler is definately different, as someone else on this thread pointed out you have to really yank on that soft chin piece to bring it out (as opposed to the Quantum/f or /e series). The colors & graphics were normal, I was reading too deeply into that part. |

Yep, definately, Arai's CS is outstanding. The only thing that gets me about their helmets is that alot of times you get a new one with a date stamp that's about a year old. Like mine for instance is dated 09/04, but was purchased in 12/05? But I guess they can't sell them all instantly
Interesting note: I've never been to a trackday where they actually checked the helmet's date of manufacture, or even looked at the helmet, or even required that you bring the helmet with you to tech ..crazy.. For everyone's own safety I believe we should all follow the 5 year rule regardless. |

What's magic about five years? Some helmets get more use in a month than others get in ten years.

Keep in mind that the materials used in helmets start deteriorating. It's not only the outside that matters but also the inside. If people put their helmets on mirrors or back rests etc there might be intentations in the interior lining that makes the helmet less effective in the event of an emergency. |
