Re: Finally Got A One-Piece Suit
Thanks for your feedback regarding my one-piece suit. I totally agree with those of you that have said that the suit does not fit the way it's supposed to.
I know too that the reason suits are supposed to fit tightly without wrinkles or bagging is so that they can slide should one get off the bike, rather than cause the material to catch and make the accident worse. As such, I am looking forward to receiving my custom suit - either the one I've ordered (should it ever actually arrive) or one I will order from a more reputable firm to replace it. I have also been told specifically by people like those at newenough.com that with my individual body proportions, i.e. height to width ratios, torso length, etc. that an off-the-rack one-piece will either be way too small in the height (as in the 46 I have worn), or the correct height but way too big around the width (as in the 48 I have). A two-piece off-the-rack suit would certainly give a more customized fit between upper and lower body, but two-piece suits also can sometimes come apart during a crash, leading one to question whether or not it is better to have a properly fitting two-piece, or a less than perfect fitting one piece. I have ridden hundreds of miles in the new suit, getting choked at the front of my neck because it isn't quite long enough (while yet still being baggy). A custom suit is clearly in my future, as it is the only proper solution to my unique situation. Once I get it, I'm sure that this suit will be enjoyed thoroughly by the 6' 3" 260 pounder that buys it from me on Ebay. Thank you again for caring enough to give me constructive feedback. |

Re: Finally Got A One-Piece Suit
I'm your height and probably a little bigger in the gut, and I'm wearing a size 38 jacket. It's maybe an inch short but otherwise fits well. I would think 48 would be huge. Maybe 2 & 1 piece sizing isn't quite the same...
I was about 17 when I got it, still growing. Last edited by brian48130; 06-14-2004 at 4:27 PM. |
