New from U.P. of Michigan
Greetings from Upper Michigan. We just got our BR. We have about 45 miles on it. We have hundreds of back roads and trails to ride in our area (Hiawatha National Forest). We are anxious to get back into the woods. BR has allowed us to visit some remote areas again. We are now able to get to areas that we could not visit anymore. I am glad to have found this site. I had questions that I have found answer to on this site. I am excited to find a place for unbiased advice from people that have experience not just from the dealer. My wife and I are both retired and intend to enjoy the freedom BR and no schedule provide. My neighbor has already decided that I can help him get his ice fishing shack out on the ice. Not sure that this is a good idea with the weight of BR.

Re: New from U.P. of Michigan
Glad to hear that you will be taking your BR out on the ice. My neighbor suggested that I get a good winch for mine. The dealer talked me out of one as he said for what I would be doing I would never need one. I could have used one 2 times already. My neighbor fishes on Little Bay de Noc. There were so many cars that went through the ice or partly through the ice that if I was to be out with him I probably could pay for BR with the winch. At least 3 pickups went through the ice less than 50 feet from shore, a couple were in only 18 inches of water. I did not think that was a very good idea. Neither did my wife, as she makes me give it a bath every time we have been out.

Re: New from U.P. of Michigan
Glad to hear from a Yooper, though I am a Florence County Wisconsin Cheesehead. Have not explored trails in the central U.P. as of yet but we have plans to work north and east towards Marquette. Hope you enjoy your BR as much as we Like our Hippo (BR).

Re: New from U.P. of Michigan
I'm another Yooper that just purchased a 2011 Big Red. I've spent the last week installing new accessories. I live in Houghton County and I too spend a lot of time on the ice in the winter, although I probably won't be using Big Red too much on the ice. I already own a Maxx II ATV. It is similar to the Argo, built in Buffalo, NY. It is six-wheeled and has tracks. The great thing about it is if you break through the ice it is designed not to float. You might not get back up on the ice if you break through, but at least it isn't going to the bottom. I'm sure Big Red will make it out on the ice sometime, but this Maxx is the "cats-meow" for going across the snow and ice.
