New Honda locking glove box a disappointment.

Just installed a Honda locking glove box in my Big Red. After numerous adjustments, it still is not a very secure thing. With very little pressure, I could easily pop it open, maybe even with just my fingers. Anybody else feel the same?

Re: New Honda locking glove box a disappointment.

That is an affirmative on your observation. Have had mine on for over a year now. It has never popped open (as a matter of fact it requires a technique to get it open even when not locked). Honda service who did the installation said it was the cheapest thing they had ever seen and not all that easy to install. It does however provide some protection for camera from dust. Would not put in another One of just a few minor disappointments with my Hippo...

Re: New Honda locking glove box a disappointment.

I got the glove box door as well and cannot figure out which way the knob has to be to close it. It requires equal amounts of force to open it no matter which way it's turned. Having said that all I ever keep in it is the winch remote.

Re: New Honda locking glove box a disappointment.

Had the same problem myself. After uttering a string of obscenities in working with the lid and preventing my wife from twisting the glove box lid off of it's hinges in a fit of rage, I finally found the method that works for opening and closing our glove box lid...using my thumb to push on the lid just under the locking knob, I found that it now pens and closes relatively easily and consistently. Normally, one would think that you would have to push in and down on the top of the knob, but on my unit it is just the opposite. I love my Hippo but this piece of engineering leaves something to be desiredI hope this works for you and others as well.
