Re: multi mount/ front receiver

Ok, now I don’t feel so electronically challenged . I was unable to fine the part #’s supplied nor a listing for big red on the site. I did download the Adobe file and it provides a listing but its unclear and I want to see what I would get. Not to mention I not have the parts here, just need a few days without work or the honey-do list getting in the way.

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

TESTED and it works as designed. Tied it to a tree and pulled in a straigt line. It picked up the back wheels and slide the fronts. No flexing or bending. That was on the third wrap in the spool on the winch. This is the quietest running winch I have ever had. I am almost looking foward to getting stuck the next time. More pics to come.

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

I love my shackle (you can see it in my avitar). I've used it to drag limbs and a few trees on both the front and back. I also use it as a place to tie the BR down on a trailer since there's not much in the front. I made mine by using some 1/4" 2x2 with some 3/16" 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 slid inside it. I made it strong so I could use it in my 6 ton dump truck. Harbor F sells one for pretty cheap. I used an o-ring on the shackle bolt so it wouldn't vibrate loose and fall out.

Don't want to hi-jack the thread but check these out for transporting BR Dr. Al

Fastrap Tie Down System WC001

These things are well worth the cost! Under 5 minutes to get BR secured to a trailer. (you do need two of them)

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

I had tought of using the straps off of a car dolly. Just never got around to bolting anything down to the trailer. I also thought of welding together a c shaped peace of 2 inch od square tubing and putting two reciever mounts on the trailer floor and pluging them in to the winch and trailer hitch. no tie downs would be needed.

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

is any one interested in buying one of my battery boxes or winch multi mounts? I am pretty sure I could build the battery box for around 100.00 plus shipping. The 189.00 I am seeing on the net is outrageous! I would have to price the steel as mine was built out of stuff I had left over from other projects. I if anyone is intereted pm me and I will get prices on Monday. Now that I have a pattern in mine it would not take long to build one or two. I would have to buy enough steel for 5 battery boxes at one time. It would come with bolts and cables ready to mount.

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

I have four ratchet straps that I hook on to the rear loop mounted on the ball (see pic) and to a ring on the front. Whole thing takes less than a minute to fasten down to the trailer.

I finally have pictures of this and several other things but am experiencing difficulty getting them from photobucket to this forum. Will try again.

Re: multi mount/ front receiver

I am getting geared up again for plowing snow and the addition of a front mounted receiver would make like even simpler. I was thinking about pulling the front bumper off and building a Warn style bumper with the receiver build in but given my time constraints this maybe olivecrossbones idea would be better for now.

Pics are linked in from olivecrossbones's album.
