Re: Rev limiter

Well just looked at both wiring diagrams and it is the same color code on the wires as a rincon so it shouldn't be nothing to do it b/c I've done a few rincons b4 and was real easy I'll post some how to picks up tomorrow

Re: Rev limiter

alright guys this is how to eliminate the rev. limiter in reverse first pull up this page and print it out for the plug/wire diagram RinconRiders.com - CanvasWiki | Reverse Overridenow pull off your passenger seat, seat bracket, center plastic, and passenger plastic where the seat was and you'll be looking something like this

ok where that hole is between your tank and the frame that you see on the lower right side of the pic stick your hand in there and feel on the back side of the plastic i guess you would call it the tank guard and you will feel two plugs back there the one you need to unplug is the back one (the one closest to the rear of the bed) one you get that unpluged pull it out like shown you will have to cut a tie strap to get it to come out this much

now here comes the fun part cut away a little part of the wire coating

and follow the wire diagram on the web site i gave you

i used and 3 prong on/off/on switch for mine you want the gray wire coming from the engine going to the center prong and then put the blue wire on one side and the other gray on the other side that way you'll have a stock position and a 3 speed reverse position this is where i mounted my switch made it easy to run the wires and easy to get to, to turn it on

finished product

now if you do this when you switch the rev. limiter off your reverse light will go off and i don't have a digital dash on mine but i know on a rincon the shift indicator goes blank (just alil heads up so you don't think you messed something up...lol)

Re: Rev limiter

On my BR there's three connectors there not two and it's the middle one you need to remove. The rear one has more wires, 6 I think and goes inside the transmission. Secondly getting to the plug to disconnect it is a little tricky for large hands.

It looks like if you are in neutral you can remove the two bolts easily that hold the switch in place on the back of the engine. There's three cable holders, one is a tie-wrap style, one is a simple metal strap bent over the cable, and the third is a clip. Why Honda couldn't use three of the same styles I don't know.

I haven't gotten around to doing it yet because I want to add a relay so I can add reverse lights. I'm thinking that the battery box would be a good place for the relay. Instead of cutting and splicing wires I'm trying to find a 3 wire waterproof auto connector that should never give me issues down the road. Autozone sells them but they are special order and I just haven't bothered sitting down and ordering them.

Also I really don't have spare time to build a rear bumper for reverse lights.

I see a Hall Effect sensor with this speed signal. I’m not smart enough to build something to reduce the signal. I'm not smart enough but I know people who are. I will see what I can do about this but it will take some time. If I’m thinking correctly reducing the total speed input will ultimately raise the total speed as well as raise the reverse speed limiter (fooling the ECU to think its going slower than it actually is). Since this only reduces the speed reading it will no affect the total readings on the digital dash.
I like the reverse cut out idea and I understand the need. I would just rather wait and cap the speed input to raise the total overall speed. This will take a while for me so my hat is off to xtremerancher02 to have an interim mod.

Re: Rev limiter

DR AL IS CORRECT. I ALSO HAD 3 PLUGS, JUST MAKE SURE YOU GRAB THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE WITH 3 WIRES. IT IS A REAL PAIN TO GET THE PLUG UNDONE AND EVEN MORE FUN PUTTING IT BACK ON. DONT WORRY IF YOU GET THE WIRING WRONG TO THE SWITCH, THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HAPPEN IS THE MOTOR WILL REV, BUT NO GO. I DID MINE THIS WEEKEND AND IT WORKS FINE. I MOUNTED MINE RIGHT BEHIND THE E BRAKE A LITTLE OFF CENTER.

Re: Rev limiter

Did anyone figure out how to by-pass the limiter yet. I just bought a Big red and would like to at least go 50 instead of 39.

Re: Rev limiter

I made a plug-n-play reverse override for the Rincon's. According to what they said above it should work the same on the big red's but I cant find a big red owner anyone around here to test it on..
If you want to talk about testing it for me please email me and we will see what we can work out.
Thanks.

Re: Rev limiter

I would be really interested in the reverse override. With the tracks on the bike it's really slow in reverse. Makes backing up the driveway when plowing a PIA.

Sorry guys.. after getting a hold of a Big Red for a while we have discovered that even tho it has the same motor as the Rincon's something else is different so this kit I made for the Rincon will not work on the Big Red's.

Re: Rev limiter

On amazon there is a programmer they offer that you wire into the computer of the br that's suppose to remove the rev limiter. I don't no if it works or not just seen it on there the other day.
