That 250R is the only quad I've ever owned. It was the epitomy of an MX race quad (before the advent of the new 450R) but I could still go sooooo much faster around an MX track on my KTM that the quad would just bore me. I haven't started that thing once since mid 2004. The only thing stock on it is the lower end. The cases have never been split and it's 18 years old. K&T Racing in Roy, Utah ported my cylinder - it's sick for a 250- they do great things with Banshees, too.

Ever heard a Banshee with a two into one pipe? Sounds just like an Indy car.

Re: Picked up a Banshee

No, but I bet it does sound awesome!

Yeah, quads to me are pretty much farm implements.

The 250 is a cool quad, and I've had quite a bit of fun on ATC 250R's in the past.

But the engine on the Banshee is the real attraction.

Derived from the old RZ350 - ala Eddie Lawson - right?

Re: Picked up a Banshee

It looks the same as the motor in the RZ, but it's only a guess.

Re: Picked up a Banshee

I've heard that the drive belts start to slip really bad if you're running them in mud. (Scrambler)

I guess I should have clarified my statement by stating that the chassis isn't as bad as the Banshee, and can be improved with bolt-ons to somewhat work well.

All Polaris ATVs have that issue, 'phobe.

I can't remember what years had the most problems, but the first couple years had 5 bolt heads and blew the head gaskets, they all had a problem with sucking up base gaskets. Buddy of mine had an '88 I think for quite a long time, only problem he ever had was the base gasket problem, he would always silicone the thing up. I think Trinity would pin the whole base gasket to cure that problem, mucho $$ though. I got to ride it quite a bit, it was a beast.
