Dude, the rejet on that thing will be very very easy. The manual that came with my 03 CR250 explained everything step by step with pics. These things aren't like streetbikes. They're made to come apart, there's only one carb, and they're made to have the jets swapped out all the time for racing.

Lookin good

Have you heard about this jetting kit with optional jetting guide.

BTW, who did you get the Dr. D setup from and what did it cost?

Got my Dr.D through MXBike.com, cost me $399.95 delivered. I've looked into the JD Jet Kit but I'm gonna wait and see what Dubach Racing recommends for jetting before I go spend $70 on the JD.

Re: New goodies on my CRF

Check it out. I was very impressed with my manual.

Edit, it's the first bike I've owned and not bought the shop manual for. And I've done everything to this bike but split the cases.

Re: New goodies on my CRF

I know I helped Jimmy rejet his carb on his pffft hardley but we had to drill bigger holes in the carb and add vacuum lines and stuff, was actually very easy since we follow each step in the in-struc-tions very carefully

Re: New goodies on my CRF

Dynojet also makes custom jetting for aftermarket pipes. I've always been very happy with them.

Re: New goodies on my CRF

Just thinking of what I did with my YZ when I put on my FMF-Q
(1) read what others in my area (ie: alt / temp range) were doing on TT
(2) took it out to see how it felt, bogging/backfiring/surging/etc. (take mental notes)
(3) back to TT to search forums for zillions of other people with similar issues and see what they did.
(4) tear off seat, loosen carb neck and throat collars - turn it so I could access the parts I needed to without even taking it off the bike
(5) write down what I did, so I knew where to go from here (in my case it was dropping the jet needle(?) 1 clip...I think )
(6) go for test ride
(7) replace rear tire and clean drawers

It's pretty simple as long as you remember where you came from and the effects that you're experiencing along the way. You probably need to first setup the fuel screw to get the off-idle bog cleaned up. Mine was stock @ 2.5 turns (out from bottom) and now resides about 1.25 turns.

Below info courtesy of Yamaha carb tuning tips:

Atmospheric conditions and carburetor settings

Air temp. Humidity Air pressure (altitude) Mixture Setting
High High Low (high) Richer Leaner
Low Low High (low) Leaner Richer

The air density (i.e., concentration of oxygen in the air) determines the richness or leanness of the air/fuel mixture. Therefore, refer to the above table for mixture settings.
That is:
Higher temperature expands the air with its resultant reduced density.
Higher humidity reduces the amount of oxygen in the air by so much of the water vapor in the same air.
Lower atmospheric pressure (at a high altitude)
reduces the density of the air.

See my attachment for what controls what part of your mixture at what % of throttle, and combine with the above (and your manuals suggestion for component locations ). Hopefully this gives you a start

Re: New goodies on my CRF

So I installed my Dr.D exhaust on my bike. WOW that thing rips now. There is a slight bog off idle but other then that it just screams. The low-mid power has a much crisper response and the top-end just keeps going and going. I'll try and get some pics up after work as I was too busy riding to take any this weekend.

I've said it before, but the day Aprillia actually decides to build this bike and it hits the local dealer, I will own one.

---Oops, wrong thread. Meant to put it in the 'motard thread.

Hell yeah a 450cc Twin! Since it's an Aprilia though, I'm sure it'll cost a pretty penny.
