Humbled by TTR125

I went riding yesterday and there was this group of die hard XR100/TTR125 guys pitted near me. They had some pretty tricky bikes including a CR80 framed XR100 that was burning Ultimate 4 and had some very serious compression.

We were on a really slick, loose dirt trail and I passed their group up. A bit up the trail I got slowed up waiting to find a nice spot to pass this guy and his kid and this dude goes railing by on a TTR125!

So I start following him and he's riding the piss out of this thing, not lifting for corners, just planting a foot and turning it. We caught and passed several groups of riders. I could've went faster than him if I'd have tried hard, but with my old tires, and 250 power on the slick stuff, I ended up just letting him go! I was doing 2 wheel drifts into the corners and fanning the clutch to keep up as it was. Pretty impressive show of that little bike. None of his riding buddies were near us, but I'm sure he had a good story to tell, kicking that guy's ass on the CR250.

Re: Humbled by TTR125

ha, great story. As a kid I lived up there, my dad and a coworked Dave used to ride at Hollister. Dave a former desert and scrambles racer, probaly would have been pro had his knees held out. Anyways hes on a clapped out twin shock XL250 and they hit up the motorcross track. Some hot shot on the newest MX bike is doing laps so Dave decides to give him a run for it. The battle it out for a while, the guy can't leave him behind, Daves having a ball, using his turn signals as he stuffs him through corners making a mockery of the whole thing. Later that day they they stop by snack bar, the dudes picture is on the wall. Aparrantaly hes some hot shot local expert rider. And he couldt beat the old guy on the clapped out duel sport
