+front A arms?

I've seen +2 a arms for rangers to move the wheels forward in the wheel well and I wondered if any one had considered this for the Big Red? When I buy one I will add 27 or 28 inch tires. Will 28's fit with a 2" lift? Thanks for the help. Scot

Re: +front A arms?

I thought about the +2 cause it seems that height above the tire in the front is fine, there is just not enough room behind the tire that gives you clearance issues. it would have to be custom lift and expensive. i do not know of anyone with a big red kit that involved.

i have a 09 big red. i put a gorilla stage one kit which gave me about 2-1/4" lift. i added four 28x12 outlaw radials. i was noticing a little bit of rubbing on the front passenger side on the backside of the floor board. But it only happened at full turn and on a downhill angle. I thought my issue seemed to be more width than height. After adding the Highlifter springs i have no more rubbing issues at all. The springs yeilded me about another 1" of lift.

Re: +front A arms?

Thanks for the reply. no problems with that lift and drive shafts? How about power? Also, are you running the same width tire front and rear?

Re: +front A arms?

i have had this setup for about a year. it is 4 tires all 12" wide. i highly recommend this setup although it is tough to steer at a compete stop.

i have been on 3 pretty serious mud rides and four months of deer season with no drive shaft problems at all. i added a dynojet power commander and a hmf swamp series muffler at the same time i upgraded the tires. i would say that my power level is very close to the stock setup. by this i mean i can turn the 28x12's with the upgrades about as good as i could turn the stockers with no upgrades.

however i have been in several sticky situations that i could not turn all 4 tires in diff lock. 3 wheel drive was no prob. but for average driving it turns them just fine.

Re: +front A arms?

i looked at my front end in detail last night and noticed that the A arms are more like a right triangle. they angle toward the rear. if you possibly flipped the right side to the left and vice versa, you would get about 5-1/2" of forward travel. the front drive shafts also have a rearward angle, but only slightly. brakes and steering do not look like they would be affected. the big kicker would be if the axles could take the angle. a new upper shock mount would also have to be made.
