Deciding what to buy!

Hey everyone I am new to this site. I am in the market for a new sxs and have been looking at the Polaris Ranger and the BR. So far from what I have read the Ranger is a better ride and faster, but has some major reliability issues. All my research keeps bringing me back to the Br as the choice I should make due to its reliability. Is the BR' s reliable reputation deserved? Just curious what sold BR owners on it vs some of the other SxS.

Re: Deciding what to buy!

I took the jump and bought a BR friday. Haven't even took delivery yet. I bought it for ag. purpose only. I have always used four wheelers . I have owned one polaris four wheeler would not own another one to many issues to list. Yamaha and Suzuki treated me well. Everyone I know has only owned one Polaris I looked at everything and the Honda kept bringing me back hope I made the right choice. Good Luck on your decision.

Re: Deciding what to buy!

Congratulations on your purchase and I appreciate the reply. If I am going to drop 11 grand on something like this I want to make sure I am buying a well built machine that will last a long time. Seems like Honda is the right choice for me.

Re: Deciding what to buy!

New on this forum, but I have had a Big Red since last April. Cow calf operation and lot's of fencing. No complaints on the Big Red. Hardly drive the Rubicon anymore (except for chasing cows) and traded a Ranch in on the BR. Plan to post again about tracks for the BR to see what forum members experiences are.

Re: Deciding what to buy!

I have mine since 2009 and have no regrets. It's not as fast as or as comfortable as other machines out there but I never have to worry about breaking down in the middle of no were. Yamaha are decent machines as well but to small for my needs. I have tracks for the winter and use the bike for plowing mainly. In the summer it's a mix between rough trail riding and work around the house and the camp.

Re: Deciding what to buy!

They delivered mine yesterday . Took it out to cut Christmas tree and down muddy road to other farm. Put on 10 miles. Raining hard today so didn't use it. Hopefully I'll like it glad I didn't get something that only goes 25.

I just sold a 2010 Ranger 500 EFI, last year of the full size with the 500 motor. I had no problems at all. I drive around my pine timber farm everyday at speeds of 5 to 7 mph. I want little noise and a sound machine. The ranger gave me a good ride but nothing else. The manufacture tells you at speeds below 15 mph you should drive in low, this is to get the rpm's up on the motor for hp and torque ranges, proper belt squeeze and so on. I do not care about being in the so-called sweet spot for my ridings habits. It was loud driving in low. It would pull like a mule in low. I clutched it to lower my rpm engagement, so I could drive around in "H", but was still stretching belts due to heat build-up. If the "H" range was a lower gear this would be a decent machine. A ranger is made to go, not putt-putt around, which is what I do mostly. Its what your going to do with it, you've heard it, everyone has and I can honestly say base your purchase on that. good luck
