Windshields ?

Anybody have the hinged two piece fold down on the hood type?

I,ve been told that the fold down wont work with a factory roof.

After going out all night in the rain yesterday BR is getting alot of water in the floor board.
I can't use the one piece or the tilt out/venting type because the cab has to be able to open up for the use of thermal imaging (wont work from behind glass/plastic).
Thanks for any help/info.

Re: Windshields ?

What about the half windshield or the venting windshield with the top half removed. That way you can remove it when you are hunting and install it when not. There are a few vinyl options that will roll up but I have found they get dirty very easy and are hard to clean and before long are garbage. Anything else may require a custom built solution.

Re: Windshields ?

i used an old piece of plexi glass i had laying around. I went to my local fastener store and bought some clamps that have a whole in one side that holds them shut and used that whole to attach the plexi glass to the roll cage. later i decided that i wanted to be able to keep a top and bottom section so i cut the glass into 3 pieces. ran a support up the center so i can remove the center whenever i want. I used some pretty long bolts for the bottom of the center piece so that i can "crack it" for minimal airflow when desired. I will try to post pictures later

Re: Windshields ?

The folding windshield I have works with the factory roof. I am just not pleased with the quaility. The bumpers that sit on the hood for the windshield to lay on have become lost, and the clamps that hold the windshield on, don't tighten enough to hold it where I want it.

The 'K' brand is just two small pieces that like fold down together but it is short.

The 'QB' brand is what you are talking about ? I'd be picky about fit also.

I'll wait untill I see one in person now...thanks.

Pics of the three piece would be nice, thanks to you.

Re: Windshields ?

Mine is in the shed, it is a 2 piece design. Small bottom piece, with a large upper piece. Piano type hing that runs the entire lenth, and held up by to rubber grips. Probably going to put it back on this winter, unless I get something better.

Re: Windshields ?

Well I got a quad boss fold down. trimmed 1 inch off each side bottom corner so the hood rubber lash straps could be pulled out. Looking at it, it was trimmed too much... a half would of done it.

The mount straps, 2 on each side were loose on the roll cage pipe, so I cut out 4 strips, 3 inch by 1/2 out of a old rubber boot to take up the slack and the bottom section is tight.

The top section fits tightly under the factory roof.

Over all it is not as top quality as the BR it self...but it is fantastic for a cold ' wind ' shield !!

Re: Windshields ?

why in the heck didnt honda make the windshield air and water tight at the bottom of the windshield. water pours in when it rains and lets alot of cold air in when its cold. its almost like it was designed for a different shape hood that honda may have re-designed but didnt change the lower windshields to match it.

Re: Windshields ?

I built my own for about 40 bucks in materials and about half a day. It isn't fancy but it gets the job done. It will come off as the weather warms up.
