Amsoil Motorcycle Oil
I did my first oil change at dealer.
I just did my 2nd oil change at 800 miles and put AMSOIL which I use in every other vehicle I own. I believe in the stuff, but I have noticed a little slippage when I have not driven my BR in a few days. Am I hurting something? Has anyone else experienced this? After it warmed up it never slipped again, just curious. Any other people running amsoil in thri BR? Thanks. |

Re: Amsoil Motorcycle Oil
By slippage you probably mean the engine will over rev before the torque hits the transmission. Not sure but it seems mine will do that when it has just been started cold. I did notice mine was not shifting into 3rd when first taking off cold after I had changed the oil. Checked the oil level and found it was low on the dip stick. Added about a pint to bring it up and it seems it has not been slow to shift again. Wouldn't think being just a little low on oil would make a difference but that's just what I noticed. I don't know which oil is best but I would bet there is no reason Amsoil caused it to slip.

Re: Amsoil Motorcycle Oil
I have been using AMSOIL in my 2006 Rincon 680 since new, now 2500 miles and 170 hrs and before that I used it in my 2001 and 2005 Ranchers. Totally over 5,000 miles with AMSOIL in a Honda engine and never any problems.
One thing I have encountered with some Honda owners is that they don't get the correct amount of oil back in after an oil change. You are aware of the special methods that must be employed to check oil on the Honda engine? Just reading the dipstick cold is not correct, if the oil level reads ok on the dipstick cold then you are low on oil.. PS - I have been using AMSOIL for more than 20 yrs and have it in everything I own from my 2010 GMC and 2009 CTS4 to my Husqvarna weed wacker. There are many people out there that believe in the myth that synthetic oil can clutches to slip, but nothing could be farther from the truth. A properly designed synthetic oil like AMSOIL can actually provide better grip than a conventional oil.
