Re: Front and rear bumbers

The rear bumper is not to bad but the front is ugly in my mind. I got rear end the last time we were out and my rear tail light popped off. Luckily nothing was broke but it easily could of. It has me thinking about ordering a rear bumper at least.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Hello all, While we all know Honda accessories can be a bit on the high price side check out the offerings for 2010.
2010 Big Red Accessories - Honda Genuine Accessories - Honda Powersports
I like this look better

It appears that the bumper will bolt right up to the 2009. While on eBay check out the honda of Russellville store. They ship fast and they are great to deal with. I spoke to Jon Philpott at 866 466 3219, saved about 30% on my digital dash. Just a thought.

There are a lot of accessories on the US site that we don't have on the Canadian site. Going to have to call the local Honda dealer to find out if the can get some of the stuff up here.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Hey, I went to the Canada site and found a nice front bumper. In my opinion this looks like one of the better ones I've seen. And you are correct Sfrankland I do see different offerings between Canada and the US sites.
I learned with my last Honda, I will get all the accessories now (while I can) because if its not a big seller the product fades off into the sunset. I do have a question Does anyone have the "A" arm protectors? if yes, is there a reason they are silver in the front and black in the rear?

Thanks fro everyones postings and opinions, I really enjoy this.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Mine are Honda ones and are both (aluminum) silver front and rear. The only way I know they would be different is if someone painted them or different manufactures.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Thank you Mr. ORFC boy thats what Iwanted to know. There is a set on eBay (above mentioned contact) for $229.00. which means you save $60.00. My wish list is growing! Currently I working on gathering parts to make a multi-mount winch because I've had very good luck from the one on my (03) Honda Foreman. When you ride alone you can't control where Mother nature planted the trees

When I ride I always make sure mother nature has something on hand near the front end to pull myself out with. I had looked at maybe mounting a 3000Lb Warn winch in the rear just over the rear diff. Lots of room and would be a good mounting point.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

I really enjoy this type of back and forth on subjects that we all have ideas on. For the winch, I currently have the necessary wire for the multi-mount (6 gauge from Lowes home improvement). I have the needed connectors (got these at NAPA auto parts). Thru warn they are $39.00 for one set (2). At Napa they are $16.00 +tax for a set (2). To crimp the connectors you need a special tool. I have a friend who works for the state; their maintenance garage has the tool and will help me out on this. The relay I bought from Warn directly. The complete wired remote is used off of eBay. The winch is only a 2,500 pound Warn (off of my previously mentioned foreman, which I still have) and this will be upgraded to 4,000 pounds when I save some more pocket change. Just got a Factory Honda winch mount off of eBay (waiting on delivery). I have a guy who did some fabrication work on my friends Mule and he will help make the receiver for the front end (I hope). For the back my current idea is to use a surround support around the existing receiver. Go vertical with a section of 2-inch square tube to a horizontal support made from 1.5 –2.0 inch right angle that will use the bolt hole directly above the sway bar mount. I’m leaning to the factory aux battery box with an oversize battery. This is also where I “plan” to have the relay mount. That is my current idea. I will have to take photos along the way to show you what I do. Just to let you know, I’m one of these guys that solders all my connections uses shrink tube tie wraps, harness covering and non-conductive grease to protect everything. Thoughts?

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Sounds good so far. I had thought about leaving my 4000Lb winch in the front and connecting a winch to a custom made winch plate in the rear. I have a 2" receiver that is purpose made to fasten a winch to that I bought at Princess Auto (Canadian version of Harbor Freight). I had a 1500Lb on it and hooked to the back of my truck to move some stuff around the yard before I had the bike. The truck was nothing more than an anchor point for the winch.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

New member here. I got a 2009 a week ago, a dealer demo. We've had plenty of snow as of late so I haven't done much with it yet. I was looking at mounting a 2" receiver where the winch would go. I find the Big Red really could use a hook or something on the front of it for pulling. I figure I can make a drawbar with a 7/8" shackel I have, maybe one with a hook.

It looks like the front bumper is also the front skid plate. It looks like I could modify the skid plate just a little bit (if a 2" tube can't slide in the hole for the winch cable). I would like the receiver to be flush (or even recessed) to the front bumper.

I'll put a winch on a receiver plate and wire it so I can put it on both front and back. I know me and I know I'll drive into something I shouldn't and need to pull myself backwards out if it . I even think I could make a spot on the driverside under the hood that could hold the winch when not in use (same place the battery is located on the pass side). While I'm at it I'll make my own battery tray and use a small car battery, those atv/ motorcycle batteries are just too expensive to replace when they die.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

Dr_Al
I used a $24.00 Lawn and Garden Tractor Battery only 15# and more power than the stock Honda Battery. Box I built is covered with the bottom of a plastic battery box turned upside down that I drilled some vent holes in and has room for the winch contactor and keep both clean. Have been using my 4,000# Warn w/o any problems. Very Happy with this set up.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

I thought about a lawn tractor battery but figured for not much more I can get a small car battery and when the main battery dies I'll just use the car battery by itself. I'm not really sure if the battery box is even needed.

I modified my old 3 wheeler to use a garden tractor battery and never bothered with putting it in a box. That was well over 10 years ago and never had a problem. So I'm thinking all it really needs is a way of protecting the battery from stuff flying off the front tire.

Re: Front and rear bumbers

I was looking for seat covers and came across Moose Off Road. They sell several parts for the Big Red (but not a bumper yet) but they do have two different styles that I'm sure will be offered in the near future.

One looks to be a simple round tube. If you're handy and own a welder I'm sure you could make one out of Schd 20 pipe.
