Big Red Windshield

I am new here but wanted to throw out an idea I have. I am wanting a windshield for my Big Red but want a real glass windshield. I was measuring a Jeep Wrangler windshield and looks like the perfect size and is cheap less than 80 bucks for one with the rubber gasket. I am thinking about having a frame made to fit the Big Red. I think it would be a good option at a reasonable price. Any thoughts?

Re: Big Red Windshield

been looking at maybe getting enough time to cut out a frame on the laser at work. I had a ranger for 4 years and the windshield was great. Been strugling with this d--- plastic ones rattles for a couple of months now. My brother has a wrangler I will look at it this week. Been thinking about what I could get the glass from. Thanks

Please keep me posted, I contacted EMP they make a safety glass windshields for most SXS machines but are waiting for Big Red owners to show enough interest to start building them. You can check them out at the address below for more ideas.

I have a 2 piece from honda , i know they are pricey but when you put down so much for your machine dont skimp now. My friend had a one piece but when you ride on a dirt road the dust comes in behind you . The nice thing about a 2 piece is you can open it up and keep the air flowing through the cab. a windshield is a must-have in my book especially in the winter.

Thanks for the information, I have friends with both plastic and glass and I will hold out for the glass much better and easier to maintain by far.

Re: Big Red Windshield

I emailed emp and they have not gotten back to me. I am thinking of getting just the glass for the tyrex and cutting out my own frame.

If EMP can't furnish the glass only, most glass shops can cut laminated safety glass that will match your hole and supply the rubber also. Good luck and please keep the forum updated.

Re: Big Red Windshield

Buy your own polycarbonate (Lexan) at Lowe's hardware and build it yourself. Then you can afford to replace it as needed. My friend built hi for $35

Re: Big Red Windshield

I contacted Beaverpro in Canada and they have a Big Red safety glass windshield out for testing now. It doesn't have a vent on the bottom which I think is needed but it is glass. They have great looking products. Problem is freight is $200.00 + the cost of the windshield.
