Re: GPS Users

You are correct but I would say that it's even more than that... Without autorouting, you can pre-mark all your turns (waypoints) and then have it route from one point to the next. This is very timeconsuming if you are going on a long trip...

On the otherhand, if you come visit me in Toronto, you can just punch in my address and autorouting will calculate a route to my door... Just one point as opposed to 50 or so. That means that not only does it give you directions but it finds the route (I dunno about best route...) for you.

Anyone know if autorouting takes one-way streets into account?

I can get along without autorouting but this whole memory issue is annoying. On the eTrex Legend (8MB) I was able to get a good portion of the lower half of my province plus one or two detailed cities. That certainly isn't enough for longer trips... (sorry, now I'm just venting)

Re: GPS Users

I agree with you nomad about the memory thing.

I would love to have auto-routing but its not totally necessary. I can follow a map and find my own way but when you pick a point does it mark where it is compared to where you are so you know at least you are heading in the right direction

Yes, it will still tell you "as the crow flies" direction and even distance to your point.

Re: GPS Users

It was on a RAM mount as well. The center one was used for my lipstick video camera.

Re: GPS Users

The 176 still looks more usable b/c you can put so much more on the 128 then you can on the 19 of the GPSV.

The only thing I still think about is how friendly it will be for use on the road (no pre-determined route)

Pick a gas station lets say with the 176 and it places a mark and guides you without telling you exactly how to go but if you are going off track it lets you know (correct?) and with the V it points a plot for you with the auto route.

I think my problem is (well alot of things ) but anyway... its hard to imagine how it works. I am more of a visual person, I like to see things work

Enough about that..for now Time to go search for more info
