Help needed Leakage problem 929
Hi i just bought a fireblade 929 .The previous owner said the battery was dead because he didnt ride the bike lately. After buying a new battery i found out the battery was not the problem ,there is a battery leakage 1.8 ma.
If i disconnect the regulator the leakage drops to 1.2ma if i disconnect the regulator and the clock fuse leakage is 0.0ma. if i put the fuse back an push the buttons of clock setting the leakage goes up to 2.5ma.I cant believe the clock is the problem. does anybody recognis this problem? I also tried a used regulator it doesnt change anything. i hope somebody can help me. Last edited by Dutchblade; 02-29-2008 at 3:42 AM. |

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
I m not sure if 2 milliamps is normal it should be 0.2 milliamps according to the manual. If it was normal my new battery wouldn't go flat.
About the red light disrict,Iheard the same thing.Probably we are losing it. there are lots of other red light districts in holland,Amsterdam has the biggest. |

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
so sorry dutchie.
you're right. i posted from memory and i was off by an order of maganitude. disconnect the R/R and see if you still have the leakage. if so, bad R/R. if not, check the charging coil. good luck! |

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
disconnecting the RR drops 0.6ma .Then i still have a leak of 1.2ma and this drops to 0 when i pull the clock fuse out .I tried another RR(a used one)
this one also leaks 0.6. I read a thread here http://www.fireblades.org/forums/hon...for-929-a.html Same problem as mine, looks like it is normal ,Or isnt it? Why does the manual say 0.2ma If more bikes have a 1.8ma leak? |

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
crap. sorry man. i thought the multi-meter that i'd been using had am-meter on it. but, it's so cheap that it doesn't. been looking for another one. maybe someone else can do a quick measurement in the meanwhile.

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
Thanks Gravy. Is there anybody who is willing to measure?
At this moment i am in doubt what the problem is,i measured my new battery, when it is charged it gives 13.5 volts but this drops in a minute to 13 volts and in one night to 12.5 . I am sure that my new battery is not ok,I just wonder what the cause might be. Is it because 1.8ma is a big amount of leak? Or is it because i didnt charge it good before i put it in the bike and went for a ride, because i charged it with a cheap charger and later on i heard this could have damaged the battery.

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
Hi, i get the same values, 1,89mA with 10A clock fuse in and 0,6 with fuse out (or ODO out). Don't know if it's right or wrong but I do have a problem with charging system - at 5k RPM voltage drops below 13V when lights are turned on. Manual says to disconnect the rectifier and then check current leakage (if correct-faulty rectifier, if incorrect - shorted wire harness or faulty ignition switch), but since you already tried it with no results i'm confused..

Re: Help needed Leakage problem 929
your problem is probably your rectifier or alternator,i gues rectifier.
The leakage is normal i think,in my case i found out the bikeshop sold me a faulty battery, after changing the battery the problem was solved. the leakage metioned in the manual is not correct i think. Anyway 1.8ma is a very small amount of leakage. good luck |
