lol, the joy of paint.exe
...pardon my incorrectly angled triples...but anyways, think it gets the point across. Red and yellow things are the fenders/fasteners.

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Here is some closer pics (still not great) Hopefully you can see that the ball out the front (the second of the two) is real close to the fork. While it could be used the angles it can mount are limited by the grip (your arm) and the fork. Enough so that I doubt I will use it. The back is kind of hollowed out and fits over the angle of the lever mount. This should be visible a little in the third phot of the top row (original post). If you want any special angle let me know and I wlll get a picture. Overall I am pretty happy with it.

The only real plus to Delorme's stuff is the VIAS feature. It's a hassle to get MS Street or Mapsource to route on a specific road without adds useless waypoints all over. Vias are a lot simplier for forcing a route on a specific road. Probably doesn't have any benefit for auto-routing GPS units though. Handy for setting up a route before hand. |

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Basically it routes "via" a road you place one on. Without having to add a waypoint or stop. I figured some of the auto-routing gps' like the 2610 would have something like that by now.

Not suprisingly, the only time I really truly used the PC version of mapsource was last week. The StreetPilots are pretty efficient to work with stand alone. My suggestion to Garmin was to make a GPS link, so I can (without a PC) dump waypoint info, etc, from my 2720 to my 60csx, or sheep's quest..etc. No memory cards or bluetooth involved...just a mini-b to mini-b cable. I'll let you know if they respond

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Is there a version of Mapsource that supports via's type feature? I can't seem to figure out a way to force it to route on specific roads without adding waypoints on the roads. I'm using 6.11.3.

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Im kinda confused...you mean setup the via to take you on a certain type of road? or add a road as a waypoint? I do not think so..will have to check.

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Not a certain type of road, but a specific road. Go "via" this road. If you add way points everywhere to get it to route where I want, the direction list and route is full of useless way points. Breaking up the mileage totals, etc. Much simpler with vias. I just discovered Mapsource does have a way to avoid a specific road or area though. Almost does the same thing, but more steps involved.

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Complaints:
No NMEA output from the unit so I can't hook to other s/w (Delorme or Streets) Cannot export the track in NMEA or other interchange format While you can do elevation graphs you cannot save them (other than a screen shot) |

Re: Garmin Quest2 on 1000RR
Maybe it's just the older version that supports it, but Delorme's Street Atlas 7 works with Garmin's native tongue (non nmea output).

I understand the request, but typically 'go via these roads' means = make this a route If you want it to always use X roads in your map cache, you can very easily set avoids up in mapsource (on unit or on pc).

nope I got it mainly for riding the RR so it will do fine. However it would be fun to dump track into Delorme Topo (v5 is what I got).

Fine then, be that way
![]() You inspired a RAM revolution in ssg-land, the other half of my RAM assortment from cyclegadgets.com is sched for delivery tomorrow. (2720 holder, and HB2). Not shown are the 3.5" arm, ubolt mount, and 60csx cradle on my klr presently, but so far... Think some locking knobs will be on order soon too. Anyone used em?
