Re: Motorcycle Specific GPS : A Wishlist

I've seen recommendations for this on UK sites. I believe this is a GPS system add-on to a hand-held pc. I was pointing out that there isn't an "out of the box" product that does both yet even for a car, much less weatherproof for a bike.

clip in and fit half way down my windsheild bubble
indicate lane count and if the road is dirt
battery power with long life, optional power
auto route
fit it in a pocket so I can take it with me
able to switch to a decent hiking mode
able to store multiple trails so I can keep where I road and where I hiked seperate
removable STANDARD type memory so I can have it cover large areas

Someday, someone is going to develop a 'universal' standard for a display screen/control panel into which you can plug a GPS, camera, radar detector, phone, and anything else that would enhance your riding experience. These accessories would have to be built to the standard to plug-and-play. This is sort of what they have for airliners and the F/A-22 Emu fighter to simplify pilot workload. We need it just as badly.

Re: Motorcycle Specific GPS : A Wishlist

Hey guys,

I bought a TomTom Rider V2 and its absolutely great.

Not only is it water proof and stuff but semi shock proof in case it does fall off.. yeh, well kind of tested it. me and my butterfingers... bounced about 3 times and still works like a charm.

If you guys havent seen it yet.
it comes with a Ram mount with charger (connects direct to battery) via special mount

bluetooth helmet headset
the actual GPS also connects to your phone via bluetooth, so all calls recieved and SMS messages are displyed on the actual TOMTOM device whilst riding.

really great...
