Interesting----so much for the V1 being "top-dog"

I've always had a hard time believing that. I used to have a $90 Bel 870 that worked flawlessly and saved me numerous times. I can't say if it worked better than a V1 because I've never owned a V1, but I still have a drivers license so it obviously did its job.

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

they need real world requirments...they need spend some reality time with those units, and not so much on sensitivity benchmarking haaahaa, yes I had both top of the line escorts and V1, I now own 3, V1 units and #4 will be here for Christmas.

In Ca---the only band that counts is Ka---end of story, although I am impressed the V1 detects automatic door openers so well, front and rear--just imagine

BTW--Yes I like my X50 alot

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

i went from a passport to a v1 and in my opinion the v1 is the best i have own. Plus they have the upgrade program so you dont have to put out retail money every couple of years

It's a poor craftsman who blames his tool.

Its easy to eliminate x-band or kband GDO as a threat with a V1. Not easy at all with much else. Anyone who has used one for any time at all knows this.

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

I am curious. Did they have all the detectors on at once in that test car?
I did not read the whole article.
I have heard that some detectors can interfer with others since they were not designed to be used side by side?
It is nice that the new Escort is Spectre proff. If only it came out a year ago I might still have mine. (ie in Ontario don't use them on the 401).

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

Figment is right. My friend routinely tests both the Escort (always their current, top of the line model) against the V1, he will say that the Escort will be marginally better in one particular segment, but overall the V1 is the best. When we would ride or drive in his cage, the V1 is what he used, and he is in the radar biznas.

Ditto.

Once I started riding almost exclusively, I swapped the V1 to the bike, and stuck the Escort in the car. Hasn't failed me yet, and there's much to be said for situational awareness.

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

Plus, the V1 offers directional reading of radar. It's arrows show if the threat is ahead or behind. And if ahead, it indicates when you are alongside the threat, and when you have passed it. Maybe some of the other current competition has this feature now also, didn't do any research. But I have owned a couple of Cincinnati Microwave products, and the V1 kicks ass IMO.

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

It's not surprising V1 wasn't top in the test. Radardetectors.com was there as "support". They don't sell the V1. Every test I've read where they were "at" the test always said one of the others is better than the V1. Probably since they can't profit from it.

Re: Radar Detectors - Great Read

I have to call BS on this thread. A radar gets wet and it dies. End of story. Hadan Escort Solo S2 on my 954 and it got wet and died. No more radar for me until they are waterproof.

BS on this thread?

My V1 is hidden in my fairing, and unless I manage to submerge my bike, it'll stay dry indefinitely.
