Garmin eTrex Summit or Garmin Geko 301? Basically, I'm looking for a cheap handheld with MPH, altitude, and backlight - that's it.

Also, how do you guys mount & power them on your bike? Finally, if you hook it up to 12V, does the backlight stay on full-time?

Thanks for any help

Go with the yellow eTrex, it fills your requirements much cheaper than the Summit or 301. All GPS units will provide speed, altitude and backlight. The Summit and Geko 301 have a built in barometric altimeter, while the yellow and most other GPS units rely on satellites for altitude information.

Hi my name is Marcy, These are a little more expensive but worth the moneyyou could ride in style and class with a Garmin Zumo 450 Motorcycle system(I have this one myself), or a Garmin ZUMO 550 Motorcycle GPS MP3 Waterproof system. Check this one out here. http://www.exploreyourworldgps.com/store/2217074/category/523500

I checked it out for you these are a little cheaper if you can check these out too. Garmin GEKO 201 $139.00, Lowrance iFinder GO2 Handheld GPS $99.00, and the Lowrance iFinder Go Handheld GPS $79.00 they are here.

Whatever one you go with, just make it a Garmin. Any of the eTrex series work great, or spend a bit more and go w/ the Zumo. Got that one too, love it
