Re: Video Camera Mount
I'm wanting to scab together a video mount this weekend. I've seen several styles and am looking for opinions.
I wish I had a nice digi-cam, but thats not an option. I need to mount my existing VHS-C unit thats about 8'x5'x4' Any suggestions would be helpful... Thanks |

Re: Video Camera Mount
Had not seen that one....
Also: Forgot to ask what everyone does about mic sensitivity. Can you cover the mic with tape or something to reduce wind noise? How about bugs? Can you buya a clear filter that could take the wear and tear off the actual camera lens....? |

Re: Video Camera Mount
i use the wind noise reduction feature on my camera and it takes care of the ... wind noise. also, i've never noticed any bugs or other debris on my camera lens. a clear cover probably would be good insurance. here's my setup (sorry for LARGE pic size)

Re: Video Camera Mount
Well my first attempt resulted in miserable failure.....
I tried making a tankbag mounted version (seen a couple on the web) but didnt get it right. My camera wobbled too much, so it is hard to see the gauges and nauseating to watch.... All is not lost, I think I'll trash this one, and try building a more conventional rigid style tank mount next.... * The camera sure points out every little flaw in your riding eh? |

Re: Video Camera Mount
2nd attempt also ended in dismal failure.....aarghhhh!
I am trying to make a mount that will still let me use the tank bag. With my heavy camera, that may just be impractical. When the mount is tall enough to avoid the tankbag, it becomes too wobbly.... As I made the mount more rigid, I also found out that some of the wobbling is actually due to flexing of the camera body itself....my VHS-C unit is just a bit heavy... I may give up and either just use a tailpack when filming, or get a lighter camera..... |
