Valentine 1 radar detector
OK, thinking of purchasing this toy. Just wondering how many of you members have it, have had experience with other detectors in order to compare, and pros and cons you may have to offer. (No offense booth, I know you are sold on this product, and we have been emailing regarding it, just want varied opinions).
My last (now dead) detector was an Escort Solo 5: cordless, which I love; cordless = less sensitivity I would imagine. Soooo, lay it on me, please...

Another consideration for me is the fact the V1 can be perpetually kept up to date by sending it back to the manufacturer for upgrades. I hate having a pile of hardware collecting dust in my house because it's "obsolete". So in the long run, you may SAVE money by going with the V1. Re: Valentine 1 radar detector
Get a Piezo Screamer for it. That way you and the other bikes riding with you can hear it. A buddy of mine has one on his passport and even at 70ish or so I could hear it a few bike lengths back.

Re: Valentine 1 radar detector
I have one as well. It is pricey, but I've never been disappointed with it. The only time I ever got a speeding ticket was the ONE time I did not have it in the car with me.
I use the RAM mounts and the H.A.R.D. system on the bike. All I can say is just do it! |

Re: Valentine 1 radar detector
I've been using mine for a few years now. I finally got it mounted on the bike this weekend. Using a RAM mount that works with the Ohlins damper. Just ordered the remote display and remote audio adapter. Anyone have pictures of a good place to mount the remote display on a 954? I've seen EatnAsphalt's setup on the 929; but, it doesn't look like I'd have room above the gauges for mine.

Re: Valentine 1 radar detector
I have a K40 front/rear undectable in my car and a V1 in the wife's. Both seem to perform well, The V1 has a better display IMO, I have one I've taken apart and been toying with the idea of making it a heads up display inside my tinted screen. I've done a few cars with it etched into the rear view mirror, but that's not practical on a bike.
K40 piezo's are DC, I've done them inside a helmet with an 1/8" jack before also. The receiver mounts remotely, so you can put it above the radiator or inside the lower and not have to see it either. Just mount LED's in the cluster. |

. They have at least saved me a couple of tickets/warnings over the years when someone a half mile or so up the road got hit first .
